The Real Club N\u00e1utico de Arrecife<\/a> hosted the official launch of the 15th edition of the
\nC\u00e9sar Manrique RCNA \u2013 Calero Marinas Trophy, an event which will take place from 13 to
\n15 August and which, after fifteen editions, has established itself as one of the
\nleading regattas on the regional sailing calendar. Its track record has contributed
\nto the growth of this sport in Lanzarote and to establishing the island as a venue
\nfor major sailing events.<\/p>\n

The event was attended by the president of the Real Club N\u00e1utico de Arrecife,
\nJulio Romero; the president of Calero Marinas, Jos\u00e9 Calero; the CEO of the
\nLanzarote Foreign Promotion Society, H\u00e9ctor Fern\u00e1ndez; and the mayor of Arrecife,
\nYonathan de Le\u00f3n.
\nDuring the presentation, Julio Romero pointed out that the C\u00e9sar Manrique RCNA \u2013
\nCalero Marinas Trophy will once again be the opening event of the Canary Islands High-Level Circuit,
\nwhich comprises three regattas held in Lanzarote, Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
\nHe also highlighted the consolidation of a competition that has now reached its
\nfifteenth edition thanks to the commitment of the organisers, sponsors and,
\nin particular, the boat owners, skippers and sailors who have supported it since its
\ninception.<\/p>\n

For his part, Jos\u00e9 Calero highlighted the history of a regatta that has been \u201cthe cradle
\nof great sailors from Lanzarote\u201d and which has contributed to the growth of sailing on
\nthe island. In this regard, he emphasised that the C\u00e9sar Manrique Trophy has played a part in
\nthe development of sailing in Lanzarote and in paving the way for the island to subsequently
\nhost highly prestigious competitions, such as the 52 SUPER SERIES for the TP52 class<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He also expressed his confidence that this fifteenth edition will once again be a success
\nthanks to the joint efforts of the organisers, institutions and participants.
\nThe CEO of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, H\u00e9ctor Fern\u00e1ndez, emphasised that sports tourism
\nis one of the cornerstones of the island\u2019s promotional strategy and that water sports
\nplay a leading role in achieving that objective. As he explained, events such as the
\nC\u00e9sar Manrique Trophy help to strengthen Lanzarote\u2019s image as a destination
\nfor hosting sporting events, generating significant economic and
\ntourism benefits thanks to the coordinated efforts of public and
\nprivate organisations.<\/p>\n

Finally, the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de Le\u00f3n, congratulated the Real Club N\u00e1utico de
\nArrecife and Calero Marinas on organising a regatta that will once again form
\npart of the programme for the San Gin\u00e9s Festivities. He also emphasised that the
\ncompetition will help to transform the capital into a hub for sport,
\nculture and leisure, inviting locals and visitors alike to enjoy both the regatta and
\nthe patron saint\u2019s day celebrations.<\/p>\n

From 13 to 15 August, the waters off Arrecife will once again bring together the leading
\ncrews from across the archipelago for an event which, now in its fifteenth year, continues
\nto be one of the flagship events of Canarian sailing and a prime example of collaboration between
\nclubs, businesses and institutions to promote the sport and raise the profile of
\nLanzarote.
\nThe C\u00e9sar Manrique Trophy is sponsored by the Lanzarote Island Council, Turismo
\nLanzarote, the Island Sports Service, the Lanzarote Centres for Art, Culture and Tourism,
\nArrecife Town Council \u2013 through its Sports and Tourism departments \u2013 and
\nprivate companies such as Balearia and Cicar.<\/p>\n
