{"id":5050,"date":"2026-08-14T17:31:06","date_gmt":"2026-08-14T17:31:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.trofeocesarmanrique.com\/macaco-y-maena-9-toman-el-mando-del-trofeo-cesar-manrique\/"},"modified":"2026-08-15T11:15:22","modified_gmt":"2026-08-15T11:15:22","slug":"macaco-y-maena-9-toman-el-mando-del-trofeo-cesar-manrique","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.trofeocesarmanrique.com\/en\/macaco-y-maena-9-toman-el-mando-del-trofeo-cesar-manrique\/","title":{"rendered":"MACACO AND MAE\u00d1A 9 TAKE THE LEAD IN THE C\u00c9SAR MANRIQUE TROPHY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Arrecife, 14 August 2026. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 15th C\u00e9sar Manrique Cruiser Trophy got underway yesterday, Thursday, with the presentation of the regatta and the skippers\u2019 meeting held at the Real Club N\u00e1utico de Arrecife (RCNA), before the competition began today in the waters off Arrecife.<\/p>\n<p>The first day of racing took place off El Reducto beach, with two races contested in challenging wind conditions \u2013 a 20-knot north-easterly \u2013 which put the 13 participating boats to the test.<\/p>\n<p>In the overall standings, \u2018Macaco\u2019, skippered by Lucio P\u00e9rez Aranaz, takes the lead with four points, after securing a first and a second place. The boat from the Real Club N\u00e1utico de Tenerife leads \u2018Mae\u00f1a 9\u2019, skippered by Andr\u00e9s Mart\u00edn Monje Batista, on a tiebreaker; the latter has emerged as one of the day\u2019s standout performers.<\/p>\n<p>Mae\u00f1a 9 is competing in Group 4 alongside longer boats, a fact that makes its performance all the more impressive. The Tenerife-based boat had a perfect day, securing two first-place finishes, and leads its division with just two points. In the overall standings, it lies second, level on points with Macaco.<\/p>\n<p>Alejandro Morales Quintana\u2019s Teguise Lanzarote Sailing Paradise also shone, putting in a superb performance in the first race. However, an off-the-line start (OCS) prevented him from turning that performance into a good result. The boat from the Real Club N\u00e1utico de Arrecife bounced back in the second race with a victory, although the OCS in the first race leaves it fourth in its group.<\/p>\n<p>Augusto Escolar\u2019s \u2018Cachito\u2019 occupies third place overall with seven points, whilst Antonio L. Hern\u00e1ndez Manchado\u2019s \u2018Sorcery\u2019 is fourth with 12. In Group 4, Pedro J. Rodr\u00edguez\u2019s \u2018Manitu\u2019 sits behind \u2018Mae\u00f1a 9\u2019 with four points.<\/p>\n<p>The competition will continue tomorrow, Saturday, with the decisive day of the 15th C\u00e9sar Manrique Trophy, which forms part of the Canary Islands High-Level Circuit calendar. The regatta is organised by the Real Club N\u00e1utico de Arrecife and Calero Marinas, with Marina Lanzarote as the host port, and combines sporting activity with a significant social element for the participating crews.<\/p>\n<p>The Trophy is sponsored by the Lanzarote Island Council, through its Tourism and Sport departments, Arrecife Town Council and the Arrecife Town Council\u2019s Sports Department, and with the collaboration of Cicar, Balearia and Hotel Miramar.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Arrecife, 14 August 2026.
