The committee had a complicated last day due to the wind, but the Lanzarote race course once again did not disappoint the fleet.

The last day of the XII Trofeo César Manrique – RCNA – Calero Marinas was marked by the lack of wind, which prevented all the scheduled races to be held in the bay of Arrecife.

Both Group 1 (ORC 1, ORC 2 and ORC 3) and Group 2 (ORC 4 and ORC 5) were able to demonstrate their skills in a regatta that would close the overall final classification and which allowed spectators to see all these boats in action once again.

In ORC 1 and ORC 2, Lanzarote Sailing Paradise scored a new victory to secure the title of champion in a classification that remained unchanged. Ye Cabrera’s boat (3 points) was followed by Katanga and Muyay (9) to complete the podium, closing the classification with Arcturus (12) and Sorondongo IV (18).

Lanzarote Sailing Paradise took the lead early on, without losing the top positions at any time, with Katanga being the only boat able to keep up with them. Muyay did not get complacent, and had a very serious race despite seeming to be assured of a third place, which it would eventually obtain. While the Arcuturus would have to settle for fourth place.

There was also no time to change a leaderboard that was perfectly defended by Lucio Perez’s Solum Aedas Home in ORC 3, which was also unbeatable from the start. Ferrer y García did not make things easy for him and he fought until the end, being the only one to have options to assault a first place that he disputed in the first part of the competition. In the end, however, Solum Aedas Home (3) widened the gap in its favor and won the gold medal comfortably. Ferrer y García (6) had to settle for silver in this category, while Pionene (10) was third. Alaia I (11) and Poseidon (15) completed, in that order, the ORC 3 places.

The same happened with Joaquín Blanco’s boat in ORC 4-5, and the Buchata (3 pts.) was also able to remain as leader, repeating victory and title for the Gran Canarian team.

This category was much more closely contested, but Buchata chose a better strategy to achieve a well-deserved victory, with many boats focused on winning the title. This was the case of Calero Marinas Wind, Maeña 9 and Calero Marinas Lanzarote, which were very close to the wake marked by the Gran Canarian

Finally, it was Maeña 9 (4) and Tango (5) who won second and third place, respectively. The Calero Marinas Wind Team (6) was just one step away from the podium, with a remarkable

fourth place, followed by El Mateo (10), the Alzenit (12), the Altamar I (15), the Calero Marinas Lanzarote (15), the Luna Doce (18) and the Manitu (20).

All that remained was the awards ceremony to live up to the high level demonstrated by the participants. Marina Lanzarote hosted this event to officially proclaim the new winners of the twelfth edition of the César Manrique Trophy – RCNA – Calero Marinas. During the ceremony, several awards were presented to various personalities and mentions were made for sporting achievements.

This event was organized by Calero Marinas and the RCNA, and was sponsored by Islas Canarias, Turismo Lanzaorte, Deportes del Cabildo de Lanzarote, Arrecife City Hall and Mercedes-Benz Louzao.

Finally, the victory was disputed between Solum and Lanzarote Sailing Paradise, with a spectacular finish in which Ye Cabrera’s team won by the narrowest of margins.

By classes, in ORC 1 and 2, the win went to Lanzarote Sailing Paradise, followed by Katanga in second place and Muyay in third, with Arcturus and Sorondongo IV completing the classification.

Solum AEDAS Homes took the victory in ORC 3, followed by Ferrer y García in second place and Pionene in third, with Alaia I and Poseidon closing the classification.

at sea. In this second leg, Solum AEDAS Homes took the victory, followed by Lanzarote Sailing Team and Katanga in third.

In ORC 1 and 2, Lanzarote Sailing Paradise again took first place, followed by Katanga in second and Muyay in third, with Arcturus and Sorondongo IV in fourth and fifth place respectively.

In ORC 3, Solum AEDAS Homes was again first, followed by Ferrer y García in second place and Pioneer in third, with Alaia I and Poseidón closing the classification.

The ORC 5 podium in the second race was defined with Buchaca in first position, followed by Tango and Maeña 9. The Calero Marinas Wind Team was fourth, followed by Mateo, Alzenit, Altamar I, Calero Marina Lanzarote, Luna Doce and Manitu.

After the first two races, Ye Cabrera’s Lanzarote Sailing Paradise leads in ORC 1 and 2. In ORC 3, Lucio Pérez’s Solum AEDAS Homes leads the provisional classification. Finally, in ORC 4 and 5, Joaquín Blanco’s Buchaca finished the first day as leader.

First class infrastructures, such as Marina Lanzarote, which will host the fleet participating in this thirteenth edition of the César Manrique Trophy, together with an experienced organization of high level regattas, make the Canary Islands the perfect cocktail to host top level nautical events. This event is organized by Calero Marinas and the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, and is sponsored by Islas Canarias, Turismo Lanzarote, Deportes del Cabildo de Lanzarote, Ayuntamiento de Arrecife and Louzao Mercedes Benz.

One of the major events in the national regatta calendar returns to the waters of Arrecife on June 6th and 8th.

The Royal Nautical Club of Arrecife hosted the presentation of the XIII César Manrique Trophy – RCNA – Calero Marinas, which began in 2002 in response to the demand from the local fleet for a high-level event and grew to become one of the three most important events in the national circuit, after Palma de Mallorca and Valencia.

The XIII edition will be held from June 6th to 8th based in Marina Lanzarote, where the sailing festival can be enjoyed.

Pilar Hernández, event director, presented the event, explaining the novelties of this edition which will feature the J80 fleet, in addition to the usual Cruising class. “Everyone will be able to enjoy the spectacle of sailing, follow the regattas live via tracking, or enjoy them from the boat available to the public. We have one of the best race courses and a fun social program with our good gastronomy. We want it to be the great sailing party it was again”.

José Calero, president of Calero Marinas, said: “20 years ago we enjoyed it a lot and we want to continue doing so, giving prominence to the sailors. Without sailors, there is no regatta. With the collaboration of the RCNA, we will reach the point from which we started”.

Julio Romero, president of the RCNA, highlighted the enormous effort of Calero Marinas to make Lanzarote shine with its high-level events.

In the same line, Héctor Fernández, CEO of Turismo Lanzarote, said: “We support this type of event, the sea, and what we have been able to develop in its environment”.

The event was closed by Juan Francisco Monzón, Sports Counselor of the Cabildo, who said he was proud of sailing, one of the star sports in Lanzarote. “With one of the best race courses in the world, we have turned it into a lure to come and compete in Lanzarote.”

All the information about the XIII César Manrique Trophy – RCNA – Calero Marinas can be followed at www.trofeocesarmanrique.com This new edition is part of the Canary Islands Cruising Circuit and is valid for the national championship.

From Calero Marinas and the Royal Nautical Club of Arrecife, we want to return the trophy to its deserved position in the national regatta calendar, as the César Manrique Trophy has always been an unmissable event for all lovers of this sport.

And this could not be a reality without the invaluable support of public institutions: Canary Islands, the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Turismo Lanzarote through Lanzarote European Sport Destination, and the City Council of Arrecife through its Tourism department, but also private companies such as Naviera Armas and Cicar.
