“Introducing the XI César Manrique Trophy – Real Club Náutico de Arrecife – Calero Marinas.”

José Calero: “We want to continue progressing to recover the level that the César Manrique had in the previous decade.”

Julio Romero: “Institutional and private collaboration is proving decisive for the recovery of the event.”

This morning, the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife hosted the presentation of the XI César Manrique Trophy – RCNA – Calero Marinas and the 72nd International San Ginés Regatta, both for the cruiser class. They will take place from August 15 to 20 and on the 12th and 13th of the same month, respectively. The first one in the waters of Arrecife, and the second one between Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Arrecife.

The presentation event was opened by Julio Romero Ortega, president of RCNA, who thanked the institutional and private collaboration for making the celebration of both events possible.

The event was concluded by the president of Calero Marinas, José Calero Rodríguez, who said: “It fell to me, along with the family and colleagues of Calero Marinas, to launch the first regattas, which were limited as they are now. We work together with RCNA with the hope of recovering the level it had and giving prestige to Lanzarote, as did the Volvo Ocean Race, RC 44… and continue advancing.”

In the same vein, Roberto Herbón and Rosmen Quevedo, representing the Arrecife City Council, and Alfredo Mendoza, Sports Councilor of the Cabildo, focused their remarks, expressing their support for both events.

The president of the Real Federación Canaria de Vela, Rafael Bonilla, congratulated the organizers and mentioned that the César Manrique Trophy is a qualifying event for the Spanish Championship to be held in Galicia next October.

Ye Cabrera, president of the cruiser class fleet, reviewed the technical aspects of the regattas, which will have the support of Líneas Romero to facilitate fans’ tracking of the races on one of the company’s boats from La Graciosa.
