“Lanzarote Sailing Paradise” and “Saudade” take the lead in the rankings
A grateful race course allowed the celebration of the two races.
The celebration of the “X Trofeo César Manrique – RCNA – Calero Marinas” began yesterday morning with two races for the ORC 0 to 4 and ORC E classes. The Arrecife race course dawned with light wind, but as the morning progressed it offered an ideal day for the competition. Stable wind from the E that increased to 14 knots and flat seas, which favored the show on the reef coast with two windward-leeward courses for both fleets.
“Lanzarote Sailing Paradise” in ORC 0 to 4 of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife skippered by Alejandro Morales Quintana, “Saudade” of the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria in ORC E skippered by Héctor Rodríguez, won both races.
The “Sorcery” of the Club Marítimo Varadero with Antonio Hernández Manchado at the helm, led in real time in the two races with a difference over the rest of the fleet, but the compensation of times led him to seventh place overall in ORC 0 to 4.
A total of twelve boats took part, eight in ORC 0 to 4 and four in ORC E, with participation expected to increase on the second and final day to be held today, Sunday. The trials ended without any incident on the boats.
In ORC 0 to 4 “Ferrer y García of the RCNA skippered by Pedro Ferrer (3rd and 2nd) occupies the second position behind the “Lanzarote Sailing Paradise, the third position is for the “Cachito” of Augusto Escolar (2nd and 3rd) of the Club Náutico Castillo del Águila – Marina Rubicón.
In ORC E after the “Saudade”, the “Marujo” from Maiderense (2nd and 2nd) under the command of Migue Ángelo Da Silva, third is the “Lausamar” of Jorge Sbert from the Real Club Náutico de Tenerife, which finished third in both races.
The fans were able to follow the race on the sidelines of the race course on the boat “Cala San Vicente” of Líneas Romero, which will leave again today from Marina Lanzarote at 10:30 am.
Once the day’s racing was over, the organization, in charge of Calero Marinas and Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, offered a lunch to the sailors at the Marina Lanzarote facilities.
Today, the second day will be disputed with two windward leeward for the ORC 0 to 4 and a course to the E of the Mármoles pier arriving at the Costa Teguise area for the ORC E.
Later at 20:00 hours, the trophy presentation and closing ceremony will be held at the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife.
The César Manrique Regatta, which began its tenth edition after 11 years of absence from the calendar, already has dates for 2022 in what will be its XI edition, to be held between August 19 and 21 in Arrecife, coinciding with the festivities of San Ginés.
